In 2007, Timon developed a series of limited edition prints using an innovative technique. These prints are composed on computer from hand drawn components. In 2008, he invented dendritic river pattern monoprints. These spring from his fascination with rivers and are monoprints of river systems including all tributaries and streams. Also in 2008, he has made monoprints of humorous life-drawings. Timon also paints cubist acrylic canvasses of New Zealand scenes, using rich, intense colours and strong light/dark contrast. He has developed his unique technique over the last eight years. These paintings are constructed using as few blocks as possible but while still clearly representing the well-known subject scene. Some of these works look surprisingly three dimensional. Timon's paintings of humorous predicaments are painted in a bold pop art style and consist of people and/or imaginary creatures in unusual, funny situations. The aim in painting these is both to surprise and amuse himself and also to present an audience with an attractive work with a humorous bite. Hopefully, if the joke wears off, the aesthetic qualities will not.
Timon works as a full time artist at Toi Poneke, The Wellington Art centre. He has always been very interested and involved in art. His parents are both artistic and musical, and this inspired him to paint and draw from a very early age. Even while at university studying geography, he spent much spare time drawing, and deriving supplementary income from artistic endeavours. Since university, his desire has been to pursue an artistic career. Until the new millenium, this has been predominantly a career as a commercial artist. However, inspired by the successes of other artists and by the enjoyment he gets from painting, he is now dedicated to a career in fine art. He has a very wide range of experiences and knowledge to draw from, and enjoys incorporating this into his art. Other interests include white water kayaking on wild New Zealand rivers, conservation, the environment, tramping, rock-climbing, tennis, exploring, snorkel-diving, house renovation and entrepreneurial business ideas.
In August 2008, Timon and a group of twelve other obsessive New Zealand kayakers travelled to Arizona to kayak the Grand Canyon, an amazing adventure of sixteen days on the Colorado River. He took photographs of the spectacular scenery and intends to make a set of Grand Canyon limited edition prints.
